There is a fifth dimension, beyond that
which is known to man. It is a dimension as vast as space and as timeless as
infinity. It is the middle ground between light and shadow, between science and
superstition, and it lies between the pit of man's fears and the summit of his
knowledge. This is the dimension of imagination. It is an area which we call
The Twilight Zone.

Serling's work includes published short stories, radio, television and
movie scripts. Notable teleplays include The Sergeant (1952), Horace Mann's
Miracle (1953), The Strike (1954), The Rack (1955), and The Dark Side of the
Earth (1957). Among his short story collections are Patterns (1957), Stories
from the Twilight Zone (1960), Into the Twilight Zone (1964) and The Season to
be Wary (1967).
